London now has a genuine Korean aesthetics scene — clinics in Mayfair, Belgravia and beyond offering everything from Korean-inspired facials to doctor-led Korean dermatology. That is good news for your skin and bad news for your decision-making, because the label “Korean” is doing very different amounts of work from one clinic to the next.
Here is the framework I would give a friend choosing a clinic — including the questions I would want any prospective patient to ask of Arra.
The single most important variable is the practitioner, not the brand. Ask three questions:
- **What are their qualifications, and are they registered?** In the UK, anyone can currently perform many non-surgical treatments; regulation is the floor, not the ceiling. A doctor-led clinic means clinical assessment, clinical governance, and someone qualified to tell you *no*.
- **Where does their Korean training or grounding come from?** “Korean facial” on a menu can mean a genuine methodology — or a renamed standard facial with K-beauty products. Neither is dishonest, but they are not the same thing, and the price should reflect which one you’re buying.
- **Who performs follow-up sessions?** Consistency of practitioner matters in a course-based method.
A Korean facial done properly is personalised: the protocol follows the skin assessment, not the other way round. Treat it as a signal. A clinic that books you straight into a named package without assessing your skin is selling a product; a clinic that starts with a consultation is practising a method. The consultation is also where honest clinics manage expectations — what a course can achieve for your skin, over what timeframe, and what sits outside its reach.
Marketing in this category leans hard on “glass skin” and transformation language. Calibrate against three evidence-based truths:
- Glass skin is a maintained state of deeply hydrated, even skin — not a one-session outcome. –
- Results are cumulative and individual; anyone promising a uniform result is promising something skin biology doesn’t support.
- Gentle does not mean ineffective, and aggressive does not mean advanced.
A clinic whose materials respect those truths is telling you something about how it will treat you.
Korean facial treatments in London range from roughly £80 in salon settings to £300+ in doctor-led clinics. The difference, where it is justified, buys practitioner expertise, clinical assessment, protocol depth and governance — not a nicer candle. Decide which of those you are paying for, and be sceptical at both extremes: a £300 renamed salon facial and an £80 “doctor-grade” treatment both deserve questions. *[CONFIRM Arra pricing display decision before publishing this section unchanged]*
Finally, the intangibles that matter more than they sound like they should: discretion, time, and whether you feel assessed or processed. A course-based method means a relationship with a clinic. Choose one where the first conversation felt like a consultation, not a close.
Arra opens in Mayfair in September 2026, founded by me — Dr Daniel Lim, a Korean aesthetic doctor practising in the UK. The clinic combines the detail-oriented approach of Korean aesthetics with evidence-based practice: doctor-led consultations, protocols personalised to your skin, and honest expectation-setting as a matter of principle. I would rather you choose any good clinic well than choose ours badly — but if the framework above describes what you’re looking for, book a consultation.
